Homelessness Food Appeal 2025
National Homelessness Week is between 4th – 10th August and highlights the struggle for people sleeping rough or experiencing homelessness in the community.
Homelessness can take many forms including rough sleeping, supported accommodation, couch surfing, living in boarding houses, temporary lodgings and overcrowded dwellings.
Some of the main causes for homelessness consist of domestic and family violence, poverty, unemployment or shortage of affordable housing, family breakdown, mental illness, addiction, financial difficulty, gambling and/or social isolation.
Strathfield Council is calling out to all residents to donate non-perishable food for a Homelessness Food Appeal.
These will be donated directly to local charities, St Paul’s Church and St Merkorious Charity. Please consider donating culturally relevant foods for our diverse community.
