Hudson District Park
The upgrade of Hudson Park Golf Course to Hudson District Park, has seen the transformation of under-utilised green space, into a thriving and beautiful parkland for all locals.
The upgrade is a realisation of Council’s Community Vision to provide Liveable Neighbourhoods and support Community Wellbeing, by providing opportunities for leisure, exercise and socialising. The project will be completed in 3 stages as outlined below.
This project is proudly funded by the NSW Government under the NSW Public Spaces Legacy Program in association with Strathfield Council.
The stage 1 upgrade of Hudson Park included the transformation of the southern section of the park from golf course to open green space. Included in the upgrade:
- Extensive tree planting
- Accessible footpaths
- Installation of lake with water feature
- Fragrant Garden, featuring thoughtful landscaping and plants to create a sensory experience
- Amazing Maze, a formal garden with meandering footpaths
- Amenities building with community room and toilets
Stage 2 of the upgrade seeks to provide more structured amenities for the use of residents, including:
- BBQ facilities
- Sheltered picnic areas
- Children’s playground
- Outdoor fitness equipment
- Sports courts for basketball and volleyball
- Table tennis tables
- A second amenities building with toilets
Community Consultation
Consultation on stage 2 of the upgrade was conducted in October and November 2021. As well as affirming Council’s above plans, residents requested the below items be included:
- Additional shade
- Additional seating
- Off-leash dog park (stage 2)
- Children’s splash park (stage 3)
March 2024 Update
Partial Closure
Safety issues surrounding the nets at the driving range have caused significant delays in opening some areas of Hudson Park to the public. Council takes the safety of residents and visitors seriously, and as such has been conducting a thorough investigation into the best way forward to ensure the safety of park users now, and into the future. To that end, the poles and nets of the driving range will be replaced, and the aim is for works to begin later in 2024.
Council understands this delay may be disappointing for the community; however, safety must be the priority.
Please be assured Council is using its best efforts to open this area of the park as soon as practicable.
In the meantime, Council has 3 other dog parks, and several other hard courts that can be utilised by residents:
Dog Parks
- Elliott Reserve
- Allen Street Reserve
- Bressington Park
Hard Courts
- Bark Huts
- Strathfield Park
- Ismay Reserve
