Nan’an, Fujian China

Nan’an, Fujian China is known for its rich history and cultural heritage, with several ancient temples and traditional architecture. The city has a robust economy, primarily driven by manufacturing and trade, and is well-connected by road and rail to other major cities in the region. Nan'an is also famous for its stone carving industry, which has a long-standing tradition in the area. The city offers a blend of modern urban development and traditional Chinese culture, making it an interesting place for both residents and visitors.

Strathfield and Nan’an have much in common, particularly their strong Chinese diaspora, rich cultural heritage, strong sense of community, and shared focus on economic growth and opportunity.

Strathfield Council has a large Chinese community and we celebrate our culture often. Most notably at Lunar New Year where the streets of Homebush West, a shopping area characterised by Chinese shops, comes alive with firecrackers and lion dances. As well as an annual Moon Festival to promote our Chinese community and drive traffic to the shopping area.
