Public Art
What is Public Art?
A public artwork is an artwork in any medium, planned and executed outside a gallery context and intended specifically for exhibition within a public space.
Public spaces are generally open and accessible to all. They can be indoors, such as foyers, atriums, airports or shopping centres. Or outdoors, such as forecourts, parks, squares, freeways or plazas.
There are many types of public art which include permanent, temporary, stand-alone, site-specific installation, integrated, applied, performance based, static, kinetic, sound based, and digital.

The Parramatta Road Urban Amenity Improvement Program (PRUAIP)
Is an initiative by the NSW Government to improve open space and active transport links along the Parramatta Road corridor. Identified as an important urban renewal area that will be the focus for increased housing, economic activity and social infrastructure. Spanning the length of Parramatta Road, this includes land with direct frontage to Parramatta Road, as well as eight precincts which have been chosen for their ability to support growth, and their access to public transport, services and jobs. https://www.planning.nsw.gov.au/plans-for-your-area/infrastructure-funding/parramatta-road-urban-amenity-improvement-program
In conjunction with these identified sites, Strathfield Council has been fortunate to have implemented three milestone commissioned public art works:
