Begnell Field Revitalisation

Following the successful completion of the Begnell Field drainage Project, Council is continuing its commitment to further upgrade Begnell Field.

The Begnell Field Revitalisation Project aims to deliver a range of new and upgraded facilities to create a more accessible, welcoming and enjoyable space for the local community.

Key improvements include:

• Revitalisation of the existing amenities building. The existing amenities building will transform into a modern, accessible facility with a rooftop viewing deck, perfect for viewing the game and club events.
• A terraced seating wall and spectator seating will enhance the experience for family and friends as they cheer their loved ones on.
• New pedestrian shared pathways within the reserve that improve the accessibility and quality of walking experiences.
• Picnic shelters and BBQ area, brings social gathering events
• An outdoor gym, promoting active wellbeing and support community health and lifestyle
• New car parking spaces will ensure Begnell Field is accessible for the entire community and increase visitors to come to the Begnell Field

Additionally, more trees will be planted ensuring Council is meeting its goals to increase the tree canopy in the area which will reduce heat, provide clean air and animal habitats, as well as improve the visual amenity of the area.

The revitalised Begnell Field will provide support to community health and wellbeing by providing infrastructure to promote outdoor exercise, team sports, walking and running to our local community of all ages.

This Project also improves Madeline Street, where the existing traffic calming devices will be removed and the roadway reconfigured to create twin cul-de-sacs with a new pedestrian connection between Cooke Park and Begnell Field.

Construction is scheduled to commence in August 26.
