Australia Day 2026
Strathfield Council will celebrate Australia Day on Monday 26 January at Strathfield Square, the heart of Strathfield.
This community event will celebrate our nation, its achievements and most of all, its people. It will include a smoking ceremony and didgeridoo performance, free children’s activities, and a special movie screening of Blueback!
Food and drinks will be available to purchase from the many local shops, restaurants and cafes located throughout the Square.
Bring the family along to celebrate Australia and being Australian in Strathfield.
Indigenous Performance
Walangari and Diramu Aboriginal Dance and Digeridoo will be kicking off the event with a smoking ceremony and didgeridoo performance at 4:15pm.
Kids Cooking Workshop
Your little ones will have the chance to make their very own lamington to take home - a staple Australian treat!
Face Painting
There will be free face painting and glitter tattoos from 4pm - 7:30pm.
Reptile Display
Get up close and personal with different snakes, lizards and even spiders!
Road Closure
A road closure will be in effect from 11:30am - 11:30pm on Monday 26 January 2026 to create a safe event space in the following marked up areas of Albert Road and Strathfield Square:
