Korean Culture Experience Event

Memory-of-Nature-I

We invite you to this event born from a meaningful collaboration. This project, jointly organized by Ebenezer, which supports vocational training for individuals with disabilities, and the arts group KATACA, captures the process of creating traditional Korean Moon Jars using a blend of half Korean and half Australian soil.

We are pleased to present a screening of the documentary <Memory of nature 1>, which beautifully portrays the artistic world created by Master Potter Kim Woo-chang, filmed with great care by Artist Jo Young-duk (Dennis Cho) using only one hand. This work encapsulates the meaning of life for Koreans residing in Australia and has been recognized for its merit as a finalist in the 2025 Burwood Art Prize.

In addition to the documentary screening, the event offers a wealth of sights and activities for your enjoyment.

Main Programs:

  • **<Memory of nature 1> Documentary Screening:**Experience a moving documentary that blends art and life.
  • Special Performances:
    • solo performance by KATACA dancer Jang Jung-hee.
    • An exquisite choral performance by the Ebenezer Choir.

Diverse Experience Programs:

Meet intriguing Korean cultural experiences led directly by KATACA artists and a warm coffee cart operated by disability baristas from Ebenezer.

  • **Ebenezer Coffee Cart :**Enjoy fragrant coffee brewed by our friends, the baristas with disabilities.
  • **Free Minhwa Experience :**Color beautiful traditional Korean folk paintings (Minhwa).
  • **Free Jogakbo Making Experience :**Create a bookmark using the patchwork technique (Jogakbo) with various coloured fabric pieces.
  • Free Traditional Games and Costume Experience: Enjoy Korean traditional games that gained popularity through the Netflix series [Squid Game] (such as Ddakji-chigi), and have a special experience trying on costumes featured in the drama.

We hope you will join us to share the heart-warming stories of Ebenezer and KATACA coming together through art, and to enjoy a pleasant time experiencing Korean culture firsthand. We look forward to your interest and participation.
