Through an agreement with Sydney Water, Strathfield Council has secured new green space for the enjoyment of local residents in Strathfield.
The green space is parallel to Liverpool Road in an area between Fitzgerald Crescent and Cooks River, totaling 2,459 square meters of open space. The space was originally owned by Sydney Water, fenced off from the public, and used to access the water pipelines that lie underneath the ground.
Council is proposing to embellish the area with footpaths, shade, seating, and increased biodiversity through mass planting of native species including small trees and shrubs. Any updates will be made in consideration of Sydney Water’s right to access the water pipelines for maintenance. You can see preliminary drawings to the right, and pictures below.
Consultation for this project was conducted in early 2022.
