Australia-Korea 60th Anniversary Photo Exhibition

For immediate release

18 Nov 2021

Strathfield Council and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Sydney present a photographic exhibition commemorating the 60th anniversary of Australia-Korea diplomatic relations.

The exhibition consists of historic and modern photos of Australia and Korea’s cultural exchanges on the national level in the last 60 years. This year also marks the 10th anniversary of Strathfield Council’s Sister City relationship with Gapyeong County in South Korea, which was formalised and signed in 2011.

The rich history of collaboration between Australians and Koreans over the past 60 years, spanning trade, education, science and the arts will be the focus of the exhibition. It will celebrate Australia and Korea’s time-tested friendship and signify the quantum leap forward in our shared future, by looking back at the footprints of our cherished history together and by looking towards a more prosperous and reciprocal relationship, both at the national and local levels.

Strathfield Council Library & Innovation Hub will display a collection of photographs as well as a digital display, utilising realistic contents based on augmented and virtual reality.

The exhibition runs from 22 November through to 13 December at Strathfield Council Library & Innovation Hub, 65 – 67 Rochester Street, Homebush.

The digital photographic exhibition is also available to view online until 31 December at www.strathfield.nsw.gov.au/council/sister-city
