Bird Sketching Workshop at Mason Park Wetlands
Next date: Saturday, 08 November 2025 | 10:30 AM
to 12:30 PM
Calling all local bird enthusiasts & budding artists!
Come and learn about the fascinating native birdlife of the Mason Park Wetlands through the lens of a Local Aboriginal Elder, followed by a bird talk by an ornithologist and hands-on sketching workshop.
This interactive session will be held on-site at the beautiful Mason Park Wetlands, a habitat teeming with native birds that inspire art and creativity.
What to expect:
- Special insights from a Local Aboriginal Elder. Learn how birds connect to the lands and culture of the local Wangal people.
- Bird talk with ornithologist Dr. Andrew Huggett, who will guide you through the bird species who call these wetlands home.
- Sketching session with artists Mimi Tong and Nuha Saad, the artist behind the ‘Where Song Began’ artwork. No matter your artistic experience, create your own bird-inspired sketches and the opportunity to participate in a public art project!
Your bird sketches could become part of the final 'Where Song Began' installation near Park Road in Homebush or even featured in a group display at the Strathfield Library.
