Council is improving the sports fields at Mason Park with the installation of new subsurface drainage. This upgrade will improve the playability and conditions of the fields, especially during wet weather periods. The playing fields will be fenced off during construction for everyone’s safety.
Details of the project:
- Installation of a subsurface drainage system over the Turf playing fields
- Cutting narrow trenches across the field and filling them with sand
- Connecting these trenches to underground pipes that carry water away, allowing rainwater to quickly drain through the sand and into the pipes, reducing waterlogging
The fields are being fenced off today (12 November 2025) with works expected to be completed by mid-December (weather permitting).
The Synthetic field, amenities building and playground will remain open and accessible throughout the works.
