Strathfield Community Carols a Success

Last weekend on Saturday 5 December, Strathfield Council hosted its annual Christmas carol concert to record breaking crowds at Strathfield Park. Residents laughed, sang and watched in awe as Elevate Performing Arts dance group, Dhama’s Indian Dance Group, the Marianna Singers, the Australian Youth Choir, Iron & Clay and Lyndall Wennekes captivated all.

As with any event there were silent prayers that the weather would be suitable, and Saturday was no exception. Luckily the weather could not have been better. The evening began with slight gusts of wind which could have posed a threat to the giant six meter inflatable screen, but as the night went on, the winds subdued.

Following the carols the crowd was delivered a warm Christmas message from Channel 9’s Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson, and a debut screening of the movie Home. The evening concluded with a 6 minute firework spectacular.

There were in excess of 2,000 people that attended the event donning Christmas hats, shirts and sunglasses. There were even a few dogs dressed as elves!

A fantastic night was had by all. Strathfield wishes to thank all those who attended the event and wishes you all a safe and merry festive season.
