Strathfield celebrates cultural diversity on Harmony Day

Strathfield Council will celebrate Harmony Day in 2016 with a family fun day on Saturday 19 March at Airey Park, Homebush.

Harmony Day is about celebrating cultural diversity, what makes each Australian unique and what we have in common. The day is also the United Nation’s International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. The theme this year is “Our Diversity is Our Strength”.

“With over 50% of our residents born overseas, Strathfield is now one of the most culturally diverse communities in Sydney. This day gives us an opportunity to learn more about our friends and neighbours and I encourage everyone to visit Airey Park for our celebrations,” Mayor of Strathfield, Cr Sang Ok said.

All are invited to bring the family along to Airey Park, Bates Street, Homebush on Saturday 19 March from 10am to 3pm for a great afternoon of fun with your friends, family and neighbours.

Activities will include live entertainment, egg and spoon races, free rides on a horse drawn cart, live animals, and bubble soccer will be available for those over 12 years of age.
