Sathya Sai and Strathfield Council’s Super Planting

For immediate release

30th November 2020

Council wishes to thank the Sathya Sai community group for their fantastic planting efforts! Sathya Sai volunteers have been working with Council to protect and improve our local environment for over 30 years. On 21st November, 25 volunteers planted an astounding 950 plants at Hudson Park, in celebration of Sathya Sai Baba’s 95th Birthday.

Some volunteers planted as many as 50 plants each in a morning, demonstrating an impressive work ethic and superior planting skills, gleaned from numerous National Tree Day and bushcare events with Strathfield Council.

Council’s planting experts Jean and Sebastian prepared for the event and guided the planting on the day, showcasing their bush regeneration skills by setting strategic planting densities, species mixtures and accommodating for local bat flight paths!

These plantings will have a myriad of environmental and urban health benefits, including: local biodiversity conservation, improved local air quality, climate change mitigation, storm water retention, urban cooling and liveability.
