Strathfield Connector Bus Route Change

After an extensive review involving community consultation, Council has decided to cease operation of the blue and red routes as part of the Strathfield Connector bus service on Monday 4 March 2024.

The Strathfield Connector bus service will now only operate along one route from Strathfield Station to Courallie Avenue on Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm.

A number of factors were taken into consideration when Council was reviewing the service and operational budget in which Council funds its services, programs and assets. Upon review, the Strathfield Connector service proved to be an under-utilised service which was expensed to every rate payer. The total cost of operating the Strathfield Connector is $1.3 million annually, which is a high cost for a service that is not under Council’s remit but the responsibility of Transport for NSW.

Council recognises the needs of our local community and will operate an amended service for 2 years whilst Council lobbies the State Government to fill in transport gaps within the Strathfield Local Government Area. This amended service is easier for Council to maintain and balance the needs of the local community as a whole. It will also provide an opportunity for Transport for NSW to properly service the Strathfield LGA.
