The new Public Art Policy will guide decisions in commissioning public art with consideration to the cultural and heritage assets of Strathfield and provide updated guidelines for all relevant stakeholders in the installation of public art in the public domain.

Council developed a public art framework to ensure that all matters relating to the commissioning and installation of public art reflects on a range of key factors including:

  • Aboriginal heritage
  • Activation of the public domain
  • Relevance and appropriateness to site
  • Installation and maintenance
  • Sustainability and durability
