About the policy
Updating Policy is to ensure Strathfield Council’s Code of Meeting Practice was up to date and included all mandatory text from the Model Code of Meeting Practice a review was undertaken comparing the Council’s adopted Code against the OLG Model Code of Meeting Practice. The review also provided the opportunity to review the non-mandatory provisions of the Code with a view to recommend the inclusion of additional clauses to respond to matters previously raised with Councillors, including:
At the Ordinary Council Meeting of 4 April 2023, Council resolved:
“105/23
RESOLVED: (Maheswaran / Hall)
That the Code of Meeting Practice 2023 be reviewed and a report be presented to the next Ordinary Council Meeting to consider amending Clause 5.18 so that the word “emergency” be replaced with the word “extenuating or other”.”

The exhibition period will conclude on 11 October 2023.
What happens next?
The feedback received will be incorporated into the final policy which will be considered by Council for adoption. If there are no submissions Council will consider the policy adopted.
