PROPOSAL: S4.55(2) Modification Application to temporarily change hours of operation and enable the processing of additional throughput at the site from 99,900 to 120,000 tonnes per annum.

A Development Application in relation to the subject site has been lodged by POLYTRADE OPERATIONS PTY LTD for the use of the site as a waste management facility with an annual capacity of 30,000 tonnes of paper and cardboard and 69,900 tonnes of mixed metals. glass and mixed plastic.

This application is seeking a modification to temporarily change hours of operation and enable the processing of additional throughput at the site from 99,900 to 120,000 tonnes

The above mentioned application is Designated Development. Accordingly, under Section 106 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2021, the following should be noted:

  • The existing consent permits use of the site as a waste management facility with an annual capacity of 30,000 tonnes of paper and cardboard and 69,900 tonnes of mixed metals, glass and mixed plastic.
  • The notification period will be extended for 28 days to 8 September 2023. Submissions should be made to Council during this period.
  • If the modification application is approved, there is no right of appeal to the Court by an Objector.

If you have already made a submission on the proposed modification, this remains valid and will be considered in the assessment, however you may wish to consider making a further submission in consideration of the above.

Should you wish to make a written submission, the grounds of any submission for the development should be clearly stated with your name and address printed on the letter. If you do not provide your contact details, your submission will be included and considered, however we will not send an acknowledgement letter and you will not be informed of the outcome.

It should be noted that submissions will be made publicly available and may be referred to in an assessment report.  Submissions should quote the DA reference number and Address at the top of this letter and be addressed to the General Manager and posted or sent by email to before 5:00pm on council@strathfield.nsw.gov.au by 8 September 2023.

Please note that a person who makes a submission may also need to disclose reportable political donations and gifts made to a Councillor or employee of Council, as required by the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
