Strathfield Council and Strathfield Rotary joined forces to remove graffiti from three sites in Strathfield South on Sunday 20 October. A total of 21 volunteers from Rotary and the community participated in the cleanup in Strathfield.

Mayor of Strathfield, Cr Daniel Bott thanked those who participated on the day.

“Graffiti vandalism is a serious issue, and I would like to thank the volunteers for their hard work and contribution to the community. I encourage residents to report incidences of graffiti to help prevent the problem and maintain the aesthetic appeal of the Strathfield area.”

The work was part of the second annual Graffiti Removal Day, which has been described by Rotary as an outstanding success.

“Most volunteers had no experience in graffiti removal but by the end of the day, they had learnt new skills, made new friends and done something positive for our community. This shows a real sense of community spirit,” said Peter Smith from Strathfield Rotary.

“Graffiti Removal Day grows bigger each year, and we are looking forward to having more new volunteers next year.”

Graffiti Removal Day is only part of the solution in the fight against graffiti. Members of the community can assist in stopping graffiti vandalism by reporting it to the Graffiti Hotline on 1800 707 125. Reports to the hotline ensure graffiti is removed quickly to prevent vandals from getting exposure.
