January 13 – Strathfield Council donates $10,000 to QLD flood appeal

Strathfield Council will make a $10,000 donation to the Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal to assist Queensland communities affected by the devastating floods.

As the cities and towns of south-east and central Queensland battle unprecedented flood conditions and damage to properties, businesses and infrastructure, Strathfield Council are sending a message of support.

“My thoughts and prayers are with all who have been affected by the floods. Lives and homes have been lost and many communities destroyed and words can not describe the devastation.” said Mayor of Strathfield, Tony Maroun.

“The damage is largely incomprehensible for those of us living in Sydney’s suburbs, which is why Strathfield Council would like to offer our support by donating $10,000 to the victims of the flood devastation.” Cr Maroun said.

Cr Tony Maroun is calling on all residents, businesses and the wider community to consider donating.

“I urge the people of Strathfield to come together to help out the families and communities which are not unlike ours, who are suffering in this tragedy. Please donate.”

Donations to the Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal can be made online at www.qld.gov.au/floods or phone 1800 219 028. Cheque and internet banking options are also available or you can donate at any bank.
