February 20 – Strathfield Spring Festival finalist in Event Communication

20 February 2013

Strathfield Council was announced as a finalist in the 2013 Government Communications Australia awards in the category of Best Event Communication for the Strathfield Spring Festival.

The annual Government Communications Australia Awards recognise and rewards outstanding examples of communications strategy and success from innovative and effective communication practices.

Strathfield Council received a finalist recognition for the communication strategy for Council’s largest annual event, the 2012 Strathfield Spring Festival which was held on Father’s Day. Port-Macquarie Hastings Council took out the Australia-wide category for their James Magnussen Olympic Live Site during the London Olympics.

The 2012 Strathfield Spring Festival saw the largest crowd ever flock to Strathfield Park to enjoy the annual community event of rides, live music from Reece Mastin and others as well as children’s activities and giveaways.

Mayor of Strathfield Gulian Vaccari noted it was an award that rewarded a great event.

“Council could not have been happier with the outcomes and attendance of last year’s Spring Festival, being on Father’s Day for the first time. The event celebrated the community of Strathfield and the recognition of the hard work that went into making the event possible and enjoyed by many is thoroughly deserved,” Cr Vaccari said.

The awards were presented at the annual Government Communications Australia conference awards night last week in Sydney.
