December 1 – Strathfield Christmas Toy Appeal

1 December 2011

Mayor of Strathfield Paul Barron is calling on the community to be generous this festive season and give to Strathfield Council’s Christmas Toy Appeal.

As part of the relationship forged with Somerset Council to assist with the Queensland flood recovery efforts, this year’s Christmas toy appeal will be donating gifts to children from the Somerset area through Red Cross Fernvale.
Mayor of Strathfield Paul Barron is urging the Strathfield community to consider their own situation and be generous to those less fortunate.

“Christmas is a wonderful time and a time to be thankful for what you have and for people to come together. The people of the Somerset Council area have experienced some difficulties none of us hope to ever go through,” Cr Barron said.

“Together, the Strathfield community can help to bring smiles to some Queensland children who have had a year they would probably rather forget. Please dig deeply.”

Anyone wanting to donate a children’s toy or gift can bring an unwrapped present to the collection bins at Strathfield Council Customer Service Centre (65 Homebush Road, Strathfield), Strathfield Library (65-67 Rochester Road, Homebush) or High Street Community Library (64 High Street, Strathfield).
