
Roads and Footpaths
All roads within the Strathfield LGA except for State Roads are managed and maintained by Council.
State Roads are upgraded and maintained by the Roads and Maritime Services (formerly RTA). State Roads in the Strathfield LGA comprise Parramatta Road, Centenary Drive, Homebush Bay Drive, Roberts Road, Punchbowl Road, Liverpool Road, Coronation Parade and The Boulevarde. All requests for these roads should be referred to the RMS on 131 700.
To report a damaged road or footpath contact Council’s Customer Service Centre on 9748 9999 and give details of the location.
The damaged road or footpath will be inspected within 24 hours and usually repaired on the next working day, depending upon the degree of urgency.
Please note that Council does not repair roads (main roads) managed by the Roads and Martime Services and requests should be referred to that authority by telephoning 9831 0911.
To request a permanent road closure please provide Council details on location (street), and information supporting a request.
If you seek temporary closure of a road, a Temporary Road Closure permit is required.

Litter on the road should be reported to Council’s Customer Service Centre on 9748 9999.
Please report the location of the litter and it will be removed as soon as possible.

To report a tree or branch please contact Council’s Customer Service Centre on 9748 9999 and provide details of the address of the property concerned; whether it is causing immediate danger and an estimate of the size of the tree.

Council has an ongoing program of road rehabilitation including reconstruction, resurfacing and kerb and guttering. Roads which need major repairs are prioritised by their condition into our works program each financial year.
Isolated problems, such as potholes in roads or damaged footpath slabs are inspected within 24 hours and usually repaired on the next working day, depending upon the degree of urgency.

Street lighting is installed and maintained by Ausgrid. All reports of street lights not working should be referred directly to them by telephoning 1800 044 808 or by lodging details of street lighting faults online.
If you believe that the lighting in an area is not adequate, Council can undertake an assessment of the level of lighting. If it is found that the lighting can be improved, Council will contact Ausgrid.
If the drain is on your property, it may be a problem with the drains in your house and you should contact a plumber.
If the problem is affecting more than one property in your area, it may be a problem with the main sewer. In this case, please contact Council’s Customer Service Centre on 9748 9999.
If it is a blocked and overflowing road drain please contact Council’s Customer Service Centre immediately on 9748 9999.
Requests for new traffic signs must be in writing and contain street name, suburb, nearest cross street, type of sign and information supporting the request.
For the replacement and maintenance of RMS signs including give way, keep left, loading zone, no entry and no parking signs or if signs are causing a traffic hazard please telephone the Roads and Maritime Services Centre on 131 700.
To request addition or maintenance of a Council traffic or street name sign please contact Council’s Customer Service Centre on 9748 9999 and give details on location, type of sign, extent of damage if any and if it is causing a hazard.
People are not allowed to park their cars on the footpath. If it is causing an obstruction please contact the Police. Otherwise to report a car parked on the footpath please contact Council’s Customer Service Centre on 9748 9999 and a Ranger will make an inspection. Fines apply for parking on the footpath.
