Council Elects Mayor and Deputy Mayor

At its ordinary meeting on Tuesday 5 September 2023, Council elected Councillor Karen Pensabene as Mayor and Councillor Sandy Reddy as Deputy Mayor for the remainder of this Mayoral term ending in September 2024.

Mayor Karen Pensabene would like to thank Councillor Cai for his contribution and congratulate Councillor Reddy on her election as Deputy Mayor.

“It has been a very rewarding experience to serve our local government area as Mayor over the past 6 months, and I am committed to continuing my work to nurture strong community bonds over the next year in this role. I look forward to working alongside Cr Reddy, a fellow Strathfield Citizen of the Year, to represent our community and deliver services which they truly value. I’m also honoured to be part of a Council driven by a diverse and inclusive leadership style. We greatly understand the importance of ensuring Council’s financial stability and creating a sustainable future for our community”, said Councillor Karen Pensabene.

Councillor Reddy is honoured to be able to serve the Strathfield community as Deputy Mayor.

“I am delighted to be elected as Deputy Mayor and to work closely with all Councillors and the staff at Council to serve our community. As Deputy Mayor, I will look to focus on the needs of our residents. I am passionate about local matters affecting our community and ensuring they’re brought to the table through open collaboration with our residents. I’d like to thank our residents for placing their trust in me as an elected member of Council”, said Councillor Sandy Reddy.
