May 27 – Get training for the Cooks River Fun Run

It’s time to get fit and get training for the 2011 Cooks River Fun Run with only one month until the Sunday 26 June event.

Starting and finishing in Ford Park at Strathfield South, the fun run course takes in the banks of the Cooks River along the Bay to Bay Walkway and is a great event for the whole family.

Choose from either the 5km or 10km run or a 5km walk with prizes awarded for top finishers in different age categories.

Hosted by Strathfield Council, the event will allow residents from Strathfield area and beyond to enjoy their local environment and keep active at the same time.

Mayor of Strathfield, Cr Tony Maroun is encouraging all who enjoying running or walking to get involved.

“The Cooks River Fun Run was a terrific success last year and this year should be even bigger. Strathfield Council is pleased to be able to host an event which encourages participation in physical activity and healthy lifestyles and which really is an event for the whole family,” he said.

“I look forward to seeing many runners and walkers enjoying a Sunday morning along the Cooks River.’

With online registrations just $15 for children or $20 for adults, the Cooks River Fun Run is the perfect warm-up event for the City 2 Surf or for those hoping to test their fitness or get motivated for training.

The race briefing will be held at 8.30am with the first races starting at 9am and presentations from 10.30am. A shuttle bus will be available to transport participants and spectators from Strathfield Railway Station to and from Ford Park from 7am.

Register now at www.cooksriverfunrun.com.au and receive a free stainless steel water bottle or register from 7am on race day and pay a late fee.
