2016 Citizen of the Year Nominations Open

Strathfield Council is calling for nominations for the 2016 Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year Awards for local citizens/groups who have made ongoing contributions to their community.

All nominees must be Australian citizens and residents of the Strathfield Council area at the time of nomination.

“Strathfield is a wonderfully diverse community with many inspirational and hardworking people. This is a great opportunity to recognise the efforts of two very valuable citizens in our community on Australia Day. I encourage all community groups to nominate members who they feel are worthy or recognition,” Mayor of Strathfield, Councillor Sang Ok said.

There are two categories open for the Citizen of the Year Awards. Young Citizen of the Year is open to nominees aged 16 to 25 on January 26 2016. Ages 26 and up will be nominated for the Citizen of the Year Award. All nominees, including those nominated for Young Citizen, will be considered for the Citizen of the Year Award.

Nominees will be judged on a number of criteria, including whether contribution was outstanding, voluntary, beneficial to the community and/or of significant personal effort. A number of other criteria will also apply.

If you know someone who you think has made noteworthy contributions to the Strathfield community and would like to nominate them, please do so using the official nomination form available at www.strathfield.nsw.gov.au or at Council’s customer service centre.

The awards will be presented at the Australia Day celebrations at Strathfield Park.

Nominations close at Sunday 10 January 2016.
