Youth Week / Mad Fridays

This year Council will celebrate NSW Youth Week in conjunction with “Mad Fridays” on Friday 29 April.

Young people aged between 12 and 24 are invited to Strathfield Community Centre for an afternoon of fun, entertainment and inspiring talks from respected speakers in the community.

A representative from the Nicole Fitzsimmons Foundation will be present to discuss some of the dangers of travelling overseas and how to be wary of your surroundings. There will also be information on studying overseas from Australian Catholic University students and talks on how to celebrate at Schoolies safely while still having fun given by representatives from the NSW Police Force.

FREE food and bubble soccer will be available all afternoon. Youth are encouraged to visit the community center after school with their friends to learn about important issues that affect them directly, and relax in a safe and welcoming environment. Prizes will be awarded for participation in competitions planned on the day.

“Youth are an investment in our future. I strongly believe if we give them the right resources early on they will be able to achieve brilliant things. This event is a great opportunity for us to show how much we value our youth and to encourage them to develop a healthy relationship with Council,” Mayor of Strathfield, Councilor Sang Ok said.

Youth Week is Australia’s largest celebration of young people.
