Strathfield Council appeals for community assistance over tree vandalism

Strathfield Council recently identified that two Bunya Pines located on a property on Barker Road were destroyed as a result of deliberate poisoning.

The trees were classified as significant to the Strathfield community. The trees were a historic planting, with an estimated age of 70 years. Their location was of visual prominence at the corner of Chalmers Street and Barker Road. The species is an important cultural and historic component of the Strathfield landscape.

Tree vandalism is illegal under Council’s Tree Protection Order. Council is investigating the incident and would like to identify those responsible for the damage.

Residents who may have any information that can assist are asked to contact Strathfield Council on 9748 9999 or council@strathfield.nsw.gov.au.
