Councillor Gulian Vaccari is the new Mayor of Strathfield, following a Mayoral election at an Extraordinary Council Meeting held on Monday night (17 September).

Liberal Cr Vaccari, Labor Councillor Raj Datta and independent Councillor Helen McLucas were all nominated for the Mayor’s position, with Cr Vaccari receiving four votes, to Cr Datta’s two and Cr McLucas’s one.

A second ballot was held for the position of Deputy Mayor, with independent Councillor Andrew Soulos taking the majority of votes over Labor Councillor Daniel Bott.
