National Tree Day
To contribute to our natural environment Strathfield Council will be holding a tree planting event this National Tree Day! The aim is to inspire Australians to reconnect with nature, actively enjoy and protect Australia’s unique natural environment and maintain our local biodiversity.

Parking: The event-specific car park has space for approximately 40 vehicles and is located off Fraser Street adjacent to the One Stop Child Care building. Alternatively, there is plenty of on-street parking in the surrounding streets, primarily Bates Street, The Crescent, Badgery Avenue, Francis Street, Fraser Street and Kessell Avenue. There is also a limited amount of off-street parking adjacent to Alan Davidson Oval.
Public Transport: The park is easily accessible by bicycle or walking as it is set in a residential area. Official bicycle parking is limited with space for up to 5 bicycles on the cycleway locking post adjacent to the canal. Alternatively bicycles can be locked to railings or solid manmade structures for the duration of the planting event. To access the park by public transport simply catch the train to Flemington Station and walk the short distance (less than 500 metres) to Airey Park.
Amenities: The nearest toilet facilities to the planting activity are located in the Community Centre adjacent to Bates Street. These toilet facilities will be for staff and National Tree Day participants only.
Sunscreen and Water:
Free sunscreen will be onsite for all to use. Sunscreen will be located at the registration desk. Participants are encouraged to slip, slop and slap!
A water stand (water container & paper cups) will be located near the registration desk. No bottled water will be sold at this event. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLE.
Tree Day participants must register at the Registration Desk BEFORE planting. Those who are happy to appear in Council’s photos are requested to sign the photo release form when they register.
Participants will be given gloves and the tools they need to get planting and then directed to a planting area. Participants who do not have planting experience will be directed to a staff member for a planting demonstration.
