EOI – Community Representatives on SLPP

Strathfield Council is seeking expressions of interests from suitable people to add to the current pool of available community representatives on Council’s Strathfield Local Planning Panel (SLPP). Currently appointed community representatives are not required to make a new submission.

Under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 all Sydney councils are required to have local planning panels. A local planning panel is panel of independent experts that determine development applications on behalf of Council and provide advice on other planning matters, including planning proposals. The panel consists of a chair, two independent experts, plus a community representative.

Community representatives are appointed to bring local knowledge and experience to the local planning panel. Community representatives should be selected from the local community. Community representatives are not expected to be experts in planning matters.

Information on applying to be a community representative (including selection criteria) is available in the EOI Information Kit below

Interested parties should familiarise themselves with the Code of Conduct for Local Planning Panel Members and the Local Planning Panels Operational Procedures which must be adhered to by SLPP members. These documents can be found at the bottom of this page.

All applicants must be willing to participate in and complete any probity checks requested, including:

  • public register of real estate agents check
  • bankruptcy record check
  • National Police check (ACIC)
  • Provision of a statutory declaration stating that the applicant’s submission is true and accurate; the applicant is eligible to be a community representative and does not within one of the categories that prohibits membership as a community representative.

The closing date and deadline for receipt of EOI submissions is 4:00 PM on Monday, 14 March 2022. Details on method of lodgement are contained in the EOI Information Kit.
