Draft Community Participation Plan

Public exhibition of the Strathfield draft Community Participation Plan

Tuesday 29 October to Tuesday 26 November 2019

Community participation creates a shared sense of purpose, direction and understanding to manage growth and change.  Strathfield values community participation as a means to ensure our natural environment is protected and our local character is preserved.

Council has prepared the draft Community Participation Plan for the Strathfield Local Government Area. The draft Plan sets out how Council undertakes community participation and identifies the opportunities and timeframes available for community input.

The draft Plan provides the community with clear guidelines on how and when Council will undertake community participation in order to support transparent and clear timeframes and engagement processes.   It incorporates requirements under the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979 (the EP&A Act), which direct planning authorities to outline how and when they will engage their respective community about planning functions like policy making and assessment.

The draft Community Participation Plan is intended to replace the former Part L of the Strathfield Consolidated Development Control Plan, which set out controls for notifications in the development assessment process.

Council encourages all members of the community to review the Plan and provide your feedback. Submissions received will assist us to update and finalise the draft Community Participation Plan.
