Bus Shelter Upgrades
Council is working with Ooh! Media to upgrade bus shelters around the LGA.
Work is scheduled to commence on 4 January 2021 (weather dependent) and will include shelters in the list to the right, in that order.
Once an old shelter has started to be removed there should be no more than 3 weeks disruption to the public until the new shelter is installed and ready to use. The construction team will be working on 3 – 4 shelters at a time and are aiming to have all shelters complete by the end of March 2021.
All of the new shelters are a Liberty design and have the below features:
- Room for 3 people to sit
- Powder coated aluminium extrusions
- Large pitched roof
- Rear/windbreak toughened safety glass panels
- DDA vision impaired glazing strip
- Fully compliant DDA free-standing seat with arm and back rests
- Fully compliant priority waiting zones with up to two wheelchair spaces
- Low wattage LED Courtesy lighting
- Low wattage LED Ad Panel illumination
- Large windbreak panels for maximum weather protection.
Nearby houses will receive letters of the work, 2 weeks in advance of works beginning on each shelter.
