In the interest of public health and safety and based on directions and advice from the New South Wales State Government as well as the Federal Government, Strathfield Council will be placing a temporary closure of all sporting facilities, which includes those used for training, games and fitness programs.
This closure covers all Parks and Sporting Fields in the Local Government Area and is effective immediately.
For further information, please contact Council’s Bookings Facility Team 9748 9999.
Two new synthetic fields have been built with one at Strathfield Park and one field at Cooke Park; these sports fields are designed for the local community with the current stakeholders using the fields to continue with utilisation of the synthetic fields. Construction will finish in August ready for the start of the summer season bookings.
The all-weather playing fields, rain or shine, are always left with consistent perfect surface for the community groups to play social sports all year round. While natural turf requires a period of recovery after utilisation with an average of 25 hours use each week, the synthetic fields can endure heavy use of 60 hours per week which provides more utilisation for residents to get the benefits of fitness through sports and passive recreation.
