The Strathfield Food Festival will close the streets of Strathfield Square next Sunday 28 October to demonstrate the quality and variety of Asian foods in Strathfield as part of the Crave Sydney International Food Festival.

Celebrating Asian Flavours, the Strathfield Food Festival will feature live cooking demonstrations from cookbook author and television personality Janelle Bloom of Ready, Steady Cook who will share her favourite Asian dishes at 11.45am, 1.35pm and 3.15pm.

Popular French-Australian chef and cookbook author Gabriel Gaté will share secrets of Asian fusion-inspired French cooking, presented by festival sponsors Sydney Markets at 12.30pm.

Gaté, who has recently returned from a trip to France, said the opportunity to share his unique fusion dishes was one not to be missed.

“I am very excited to be representing the Sydney Markets at the Strathfield Food Festival. In my cooking demonstration I will blend wonderful Asian flavours with classic French cooking techniques. The result is enchanting and an example of our exotic modern Australian cuisine,” Gaté said.

Plus there will be demonstrations by Darlinghurst chocolatier David Ralph from Kakawa Chocolates, sharing the popular ginseng dark chocolate bon bons at 2.30pm.

Strathfield Square will be alive with the tastes and scents of Asian Flavours with 13 Asian food and wine vendors restaurants sharing the secrets of Strathfield’s many cuisines.

With three Food Trail walking tours of Strathfield Town Centre for food lovers to experience the highlights and behind the scenes of Strathfield’s eating precinct and top restaurants and the launch of the 2012 edition of the Strathfield Good Food Guide, the Strathfield Food Festival is a fantastic food experience.
