November 21 – Strathfield Council and Strathfield Rotary launch annual Christmas appeal

Strathfield Council, in conjunction with Strathfield Rotary has officially launched its 2012 Christmas appeal in support of The Salvation Army’s Streetlevel Mission.

As part of the annual Strathfield Christmas Carols event, Council, in conjunction with Strathfield Rotary will collect toys, gifts and cash donations from the Strathfield community on December 8. The donations will be provided to The Salvation Army’s Streetlevel Mission, supporting those less fortunate at Christmas with hampers, gifts and a Christmas lunch.

Mayor of Strathfield Gulian Vaccari is urging the Strathfield community to consider their own situation and be generous to those less fortunate.

“Christmas is a time for celebration and coming together but also a time to be thankful for what you have and to consider the needs of others,” Cr Vaccari said.

“Together, the Strathfield community can help to bring smiles to families and children who may not have much to celebrate this Christmas. For everyone who comes along to the annual Christmas Carols event, I ask you to bring along a gift and give a little this Christmas.”

Anyone wanting to donate a gift, for children, teenagers, or adults can bring an unwrapped present to the collection bins at Strathfield Council Customer Service Centre (65 Homebush Road, Strathfield), Strathfield Library (65-67 Rochester Road, Homebush) or High Street Community Library (64 High Street, Strathfield) or donate it at the Christmas Carols on Saturday 8 December, Strathfield Park from 5pm.
