November 15 – Free HSC Art Exhibition in Strathfield

Strathfield Council will hold the second annual HSC Art Exhibition next month, showcasing the works of some of Strathfield’s most talented school students.

The HSC Art Exhibition will include the HSC major works of Visual Arts students from local high schools including paintings, drawings, sculptures and printmaking, as well as the artworks of some Year 11 students.

The works will be on show at a free exhibition in the Strathfield Town Hall from December 4-9. Attendees can vote for the People’s Choice Award, and will have the opportunity to win a prize for voting.

The HSC Art Exhibition Opening Night on Thursday December 5 will include a series of award presentations to some of Strathfield’s most talented young artists.

The artworks will be judged by a panel comprising of Cr Sang Ok, Deputy Mayor of Strathfield, Mr Tevita Havea, a local sculpturist, and Mrs Jae Hee Cho, Director of the Art & Design Institute who runs art classes for Koreans.

Mayor of Strathfield, Cr Daniel Bott said the HSC Art Exhibition is an important event for Council.

“Council is proud to be putting on this Art Exhibition for the second year to celebrate the creative talents of students in the local area. It is also a fantastic way to recognise the quality of the education facilities and staff at the schools who have supported these students,” he said.

“I encourage everyone in the Strathfield community to come to the Art Exhibition and enjoy the works that these students have put hours of effort into creating.”

The HSC Art Exhibition will award eight cash or gift voucher awards to students and their schools, plus a gift voucher award to one lucky voter in the People’s Choice category, with thanks to sponsors DFO, Strathfield Partners, Pancakes on the Rocks North Strathfield and Coffee Warehouse Café and Deli, Homebush.
