On Tuesday 2 February it was resolved at the Ordinary Council meeting to discontinue the production of the Strathfield Scene.
Strathfield councillors voted to cease producing the monthly community newspaper effective immediately. It was decided that the amount spent on the Strathfield Scene could be better used in community projects, services and infrastructure.
“Annually the Strathfield Scene costs Council over $350 000 and we feel that the residents deserve better value for money from their rates. With these savings we intend to provide our residents with better services and facilities”, Mayor of Strathfield Councillor Sang Ok said.
“Council is deliberating on a range of ideas on how to more effectively communicate with residents in the future. Options being considered are to create a monthly electronic newsletter that will be available on the Council’s website. In addition a quarterly newsletter is under consideration for distribution to all residents and businesses in Strathfield. The Strathfield Scene will be replaced. We are just working out the best way to do this.” Mayor Ok said.
