Strathfield celebrates International Day of People with Disability

Friday, 12th December, 2014

Strathfield Council recently celebrated International Day of People with Disability and the launch of Liberty Wheels, a program to teach people with a disability to ride a bicycle.

The aim of the program is to provide a safe and supportive environment to learn to ride a bicycle. To launch the program, an activity day was held at the Dutton Centre on December 6. The day gave attendees the opportunity to participate in soccer and bocce, as well as the bicycle clinic.

Guests also enjoyed a dance performance and a BBQ run by students and teachers from South Strathfield High School.

The Chairman of the Dooleys Lidcombe Catholic Club Board, John Munce, was in attendance on the day. The club has been a fantastic supporter of the local community, with funding from its Community Grants program provided to develop recreational activities for people with a disability.
