May 19 – Chalmers Road school gets cubby house

19 May 2011

Strathfield Men’s Shed and the Mayor of Strathfield presented a cubby house to the Chalmers Road Public School for children with disabilities.

The cubby house was handmade by the members of the Strathfield Men’s Shed and took approximately three months to complete by 15 members of the shed. The cubby house was made possible with a donation from the Burwood Lions Club to purchase the parts required to finish the construction and delivered with assistance from Strathfield Council.

The cubby house was unveiled by Mayor of Strathfield, Cr Tony Maroun and presented with members of the Men’s Shed to Chalmers Road Public School principal Wendy Milburn and students.

Cr Tony Maroun said it was a great community initiative with benefits all round.

“The Men’s Shed is a great example of a volunteer community group whose work can bring smiles to the faces of others,” he said.

“In this instance, it is the students of Chalmers Road who are the well-deserved recipients. I hope that the students will get many years of enjoyment, smiles and laughs out of the cubby house.”
