May 14 – Mayor to make wife a citizen

14 May 2014

Mayor of Strathfield, Cr Daniel Bott will become possibly the first Mayor to ever officially make his wife an Australian Citizen at a Strathfield Council citizenship ceremony this month.

The Citizenship Ceremony, on 22 May in the Strathfield Town Hall, will hold special significance for the Bott family, when Mrs Adria Bott becomes an Australian Citizen, taking the pledge lead by Cr Bott.

Mrs Bott, a US citizen, has lived in Australian for four years. She met her husband whilst studying in Ohio in 2005 before moving to Australia to marry in 2010.

Cr Daniel Bott said the occasion will be a special one for both he and his wife.

“I think it’s fair to say it will go down as one of the most memorable moments of my Mayoralty, and something I am quite proud to be able to be a part of.

“Being Mayor can often be a selfless task, but moments like this make it special, and I know it will be special for Adria too.”

The Citizenship Ceremony will be held in the Strathfield Town Hall on Thursday 22 May from 6pm. 120 conferees will become Australian citizens from countries including India, Nepal, South Korea, Philippines, Ireland, Britain, Singapore, China, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
