13 March 2012

Calling on the youth of Strathfield to get ready for National Youth Week 2012 and the chance to be recognised with the 2012 Strathfield Youth Achievement Awards.

Strathfield Council and Strathfield Rotary are calling for nominations for the annual Youth Achievement Awards to recognise the achievements of young people aged 12-25 who live, work, study or train in the Strathfield local government area.

The awards recognise the outstanding achievements of young locals across a wide range of categories including art, community service, business and sports.

Nominations are now open and must be received by Friday 27 April with the Youth Achievement Awards presentation to be held on Wednesday 9 May.

Mayor of Strathfield, Paul Barron noted that Youth Week was a great way for young people to feel a part of the community.

“Youth Week is a time when young people should feel included and aware that they make up a vital part of our community. With 15 schools and a university in the Strathfield Municipality, the Youth Achievement Awards are a great opportunity for young people to be recognised for the important part they play in the Strathfield community and the future of the area,” Cr Barron said.
