Lorraine Street Bridge Installation Morning Tea

For immediate release

21 June 2022

Three new pedestrian and cycleway bridge crossings will be installed at Lorraine Street, Hamilton Street and George Street to join parts of the Bay to Bay path along Powells Creek, improving connectivity with Bressington and Mason Parks, as well as Ismay Reserve.

The Department of Planning and Environment and Strathfield Council are pleased to announce that the first of three bridges will be installed across Powells Creek at Lorraine Street on Thursday 23 June at 10am.

The Lorraine Street bridge is being constructed at Port Macquarie and will be transported by road to be lifted in place over Powells Creek by crane.

A celebratory morning tea will be hosted by Strathfield Council to mark the occasion on Thursday 23 June from 10am – 11am at Powells Creek, Mason Park side, opposite Lorraine Street, North Strathfield.

This project is funded by the NSW Government under the Parramatta Road Urban Amenity Improvement Program (PRUAIP). PRUAIP is a $198 million initiative by the NSW Government to improve open space and active transport links along the Parramatta Road corridor.
