The Local Studies Collection is a specialised collection of historical and current resources documenting the history, geography, heritage and contemporary life of the Strathfield Local Government Area held at Strathfield Library. The collection includes:

  • books
  • reports and environmental studies
  • maps and plans
  • oral histories
  • local newspapers and newspaper clippings files
  • pamphlet file
  • photographs


Access to the Local Studies collection


The Local Studies Collection is a reference collection - items are not for loan.  Where multiple copies exist some publications may be available for loan from the general library collection. Appointments are recommended so that Library staff can provide assistance.  Some resources can be made available by prior arrangement.


Using the Local Studies collection


Anybody is welcome to use the collection. There is a wealth of material for students of all levels. Senior high school students completing the Senior Geography Project and history assignments will find environmental reports, newspaper clippings, historical photographs and maps.
