June 7 – Short film festival to showcase young talents

21 June 2012

Strathfield Council have rescheduled the wet weather affected Youth Film Festival to Wednesday 27 June at Strathfield Town Hall from 4.30pm to showcase the talents of young film makers and spread the ‘Keep it Safe’ message.

The festival will be held at Strathfield Town Hall with attendees from local schools and free entry for all young people aged 12-24. Refreshments will be served from 4.30pm and the film screening and presentations to finalists from 5pm.

The film festival showcases short films from young people asked to deliver a positive community safety message to a youth audience as part of a larger Council initiative, partly funded by the Australian Government to encourage young people to be concerned for their personal safety.

Mayor of Strathfield, Cr Paul Barron said it is fortunate that the film festival can be rescheduled at short notice.

“It was very disappointing that weather caused the postponement if the Youth Film Festival in Strathfield Town Centre. Council have be able to reschedule the event at short notice to the Town Hall and are now calling on young people to come along after school and watch the short films and engage with the ‘keep it safe’ message,” Cr Barron said.

Information has been forwarded to all local schools. For more information and to RSVP visit www.youthfilmfestival.com.au or contact Strathfield Council on 9748 9999.
