June 17 – Strathfield celebrates Queen’s Birthday Honours recipients

Two Strathfield residents received honours as part of the 2013 Queen’s Birthday celebrations last week.

Honours are awarded to reward the work and achievements of Australians in a range of categories including the arts, sport, community, law, medicine, education and business.

Ron Haddrick AM of Homebush was recognised for his service to performing arts as an actor and narrator. Mr Haddrick has worked in the fields of theatre, television, film, radio and voice since 1946 and has most recently appeared in performances for the Queensland Theatre Company and South Australian Theatre.

Dr Elwyn Elms of Strathfield was recognised for service to the law in New South Wales and the community. Dr Elms was the magistrate of the Local Court of New South Wales from 1985 to 1998. He has a strong involvement with the local community, including organising the inaugural Strathfield heritage tour.

The award winners will be recognised at an afternoon tea with Mayor of Strathfield, Cr Gulian Vaccari this week.
