July 31 – Elly Oh to headline the Strathfield Spring Festival

31 July 2014

Strathfield’s biggest annual event, the Strathfield Spring Festival is returning on Sunday 7 September featuring headline entertainment from South Korean born singer Elly Oh.

Recently showcasing her impressive vocal skills on The Voice Australia, Elly is a professionally trained opera singer, with experience performing in South Korea and Italy before moving to Australia.

After branching out into other genres over the past two years, her versatility made her a favourite on the popular talent show, with standout performances of opera classics and modern hits. Appearing on the Strathfield Festival main stage at 12.05pm, Elly will perform a selection of opera and pop songs, and will follow her performance with a signing session.

The main stage entertainment line up will also include the Sydney heat of the annual Telstra Road to Discovery music development program. Local singers and songwriters representing the blues and roots, folk and country genres will perform at the festival, with one to be selected as the Sydney representative at the next stage of the competition.

Two overall winners will win a $15,000 music development fund and a trip to the United States to perform at the Americana Music Festival, plus ongoing opportunities including local gigs and education opportunities to help develop their music career.

The program will also feature a performance by Telstra Road to Discovery host and former Killing Heidi singer, Ella Hooper.

Hosted by Strathfield Council, the 2014 Spring Festival will celebrate Father’s Day with something for the whole family. A Sports Quarter will feature motocross shows, BMX and scooter workshops and martial arts demonstrations, plus the opportunity to enjoy segways, zorb balls, three-wheeler trikes and sports clinics. A dedicated Kidz World will have the children entertained for hours with performers and activities.

The festival also features carnival ride, merchandise stalls, community displays, showbags, food and giveaways.
