Mayor of Strathfield, Cr Daniel Bott has expressed his warmest wishes to all cultures celebrating the New Year and welcoming the Year of the Horse this week.

“The New Year is an important event on the lunar calendar, particularly in the Chinese and Korean cultures, and is therefore significant time of year for multicultural communities like Strathfield,” Cr Bott said.

“The Lunar New Year celebrations in Strathfield are a reminder of the rich cultural diversity and friendship present in the community. On behalf of the Council and the community, I would like to spread best wishes for good fortunes in the Year of the Horse.”

Flemington Chamber of Commerce will hold Chinese New Year celebrations in Homebush West on Saturday 1 February from 10am. The celebrations will see fire crackers and a lion dancing display bringing luck and good fortune to all of the businesses along Henley Road and The Crescent, Homebush West.
