January 13 – Celebrate Australia Day at Strathfield Park

Strathfield Council will celebrate Australia Day on Thursday 26 January at Strathfield Park with a free sausage sizzle, games and activities for all the family and giveaways.

The day will include a range of activities by Life Be In It including giant earthball, parachute, crazy cricket, rhythm sticks, stilt walking, egg and spoon races, sack and 3-legged races, tug of war and more.

The morning will start from 8.30am with a Citizenship Ceremony and a free barbecue breakfast thanks to the support of AJ Bush & Sons and cooked by volunteers from Strathfield SES.

Strathfield’s Australia Day Ambassador Tony Hasham successful businessman and Life Education Australia Chairman will present Council’s Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year Awards.

Mayor of Strathfield, Paul Barron said Australia Day is a day for embracing the community at the start of a new year.

“Australia Day is a wonderful opportunity for all Australians to celebrate all that is great about our country, past, present and future. It is also a day for communities like Strathfield to reflect on the contribution of our diverse area and to come together as one,” Cr Barron said.

“I look forward to seeing the Strathfield community join in the celebration, welcome new Australians and enjoy the games and activities on January 26.”
