For immediate release

28 September 2020

Strathfield Council is excited to announce the Ironbark Gallery’s inaugural exhibition, featuring artworks by Erika Cholich, which will be open to members of the public from 17 October to 13 December.

Erika Cholich is a local artist who infuses her still life paintings with a contemporary aesthetic that is bold and full of life. Gilded Perceptions is an exploration and celebration of colour relationships and storytelling.

Erika regularly visits the Sydney Flower Markets, utilising this local resource for subject matter in her choreographed compositions.

“I feel empowered by a vital force of creativity that pushes me to expand the boundaries of my own perspectives and knowledge. I always return back to the paramount examples of human vision which are patiently waiting in the galleries of the great museums such as the Louvre, The Hermitage and the Metropolitan Museum of Art” Erika said.

The exhibition will kick off with an official opening on Friday 16 October at 6pm with guest speaker Tony Costa, winner of the Archibald Prize 2019. Bookings to attend the official opening are essential and can be made at www.strathfield.nsw.gov.au

The exhibition runs from 17 October through to 13 December at the Ironbark Gallery located within the Strathfield Council Library & Innovation Hub, 65 – 67 Rochester Street, Homebush.
